This comprehensive course is designed for childcare workers and early childhood teachers. It fulfils all requirements for First Aid, Anaphylaxis Management, and Emergency Asthma training, as recommended by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
What You’ll Learn
This course is tailored to the unique needs of an educational setting and aligns with legal and workplace requirements, as well as guidelines from the Australian Resuscitation Council and other national clinical bodies. You'll gain hands-on experience in:
Identifying Illness or Injury: Learn to quickly assess and identify medical emergencies.
First Aid Techniques: Master the use of action plans and equipment for a range of conditions, including CPR, defibrillation, anaphylaxis, asthma, and more.
Specialised Care for Children: Understand the anatomical and physiological differences in providing first aid to adults, children, and infants.
Incident Management: Learn how to document incidents and debrief for future improvement, while also addressing psychological impacts and emotional needs.
Pre-Course Requirements
Before attending the practical session, students must complete an online pre-course work and assessment.
Practical Assessment
The course includes a practical assessment requiring two minutes of uninterrupted CPR performed on the floor. If you're unable to perform CPR on the floor, please contact our team for alternative arrangements.
How Is the Course Delivered?
The course is conducted at ACTWELL’s state-of-the-art training facility and runs for approximately 2.5 hours of face-to-face training. An online pre-course component must be completed prior to the in-person session and may take up to 7 hours to complete.

This specialised course is designed for individuals who may find themselves in remote or isolated locations where medical assistance could be delayed or evacuation is necessary.
What You’ll Learn
Aligned with legal and workplace requirements, Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, and other national clinical bodies, this course offers:
Emergency Preparedness: Learn how to prepare for first aid emergencies based on your specific remote location.
Casualty Assessment & Triage: Master the skills to assess a casualty, provide safety, and undertake triage for multiple casualties.
Remote-Specific Treatments: Get hands-on training for conditions unique to remote settings, such as hypothermia, hyperthermia, and life-threatening bleeding.
Communication Skills: Learn how to relay crucial information to emergency services to assist in your location.
Psychological First Aid: Understand the psychological impacts of emergencies and how to seek stress management and support.

This course is designed for individuals who may face challenging and high-risk situations, such as multiple casualty incidents or potentially fatal illnesses and injuries.
What You’ll Learn
This course offers practical, simulated real-life scenarios to prepare you for the unexpected. Aligned with legal, community, and workplace considerations, as well as guidelines from the Australian Resuscitation Council and other national clinical bodies, you'll learn:
Incident Management: Gain the confidence to coordinate and manage a response until emergency services arrive.
Advanced Treatments: Master advanced first aid techniques for conditions like hypothermia, hyperthermia, and life-threatening bleeding.
Documentation & Debriefing: Learn how to record casualty conditions, complete incident documentation, and identify areas for improvement.
Psychological First Aid: Understand the psychological impacts of emergencies and how to seek stress management and support.

Course Delivery Options
This course can be delivered either in your workplace or at ACTWELL First Aid & Training Canberra’s state-of-the-art facility.
Entry Requirements
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
Pre-Course Study
Depending on the course delivery mode, students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending assessment sessions.
Online Study Requirements
Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet, or other electronic devices with internet access to complete the online pre-course studies.
Course Duration
The assessment runs for approximately 6.5 hours, with an additional pre-course online requirement of up to 6 hours.
Assessment Activities
You'll be assessed through a variety of methods, including:
Practical scenarios
Written assessments consisting of multiple-choice questions
Certificate Renewal
The CPR component (HLTAID009) is valid for 12 months, while HLTAID010, HLTAID011, and HLTAID014 are recommended for renewal every three years.

This unit applies to persons who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation or oxygen therapy in a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings.

Pre-Course Requirements
HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid (Pre-requisite)
